I want to like this product, I really do, but right now, I feel like I am being forced to learn a dying system. I feel like I need to vent a little, so I was hoping to get a discussion started as to why Creo has any advantage over the other popular 3D CAD modeling systems. TriBall Detailed look at IronCADs most famous tool. Sheet Metal Preview Very short preview of IronCADs sheet metal tools. What does the IronCAD Synergy Platform Mean for IronCAD UsersUnderstanding IronCADs mehtodology compared to conventional systems. IronCAD’s powerful collaboration platform creates a newfound synergy between how seamless it is to manage, view, and share all of your files within your organization as well as to external clients and sales teams, all in one place.
In my opinion, there is no comparison between the two. I am new to Creo (6 weeks), but I have used Inventor for the past 3 years. Like any CAD program, there is a learning curve.' 'Reasonable learning curve, consistent user interface, a very capable solid modeller, which also has a surprising number of surface tools and surface editing. 'While IronCAD is feature rich and generally bug-free, it is an outstanding value when compared products like SolidWorks.
This is probably part of their business plan because truthfully, their documentation and training programs are superior to the software itself. For the novice trying to obtain a grasp on this program, it is next to impossible without a significant amount of training from PTC. Just drag and drop these readymade designs into assemblies, where they will attach themselves to other parts thanks to IRONCAD’s built-in intelligent behavior.Creo is completely unintuitive. Rendered and modeled in IRONCAD.IronCAD Mechanical is an IRONCAD catalog that includes pre-made designs for industry-standard fasteners, bearings, O-rings, piping, and flanges, saving fabricators hours of design time.
The commands should be explicit. Right clicking for everything is a nuisance. However, they have failed at the ease and convenience that Inventor provides and it seems like their employees do not understand why they are programming their product in this way.IronCAD 2020 IronCAD Product Update 1 By BSTAFF 131 IronCAD 2020 SP1 Hotfixes By BSTAFF 587 View All Files Latest Files All Activity Home Downloads Contact Us Powered by Invision Community × Existing user Sign In Sign Up Browse Back. The user interface is obviously a copy of what Autodesk has been doing - the Ribbon UI.

For instance, the rotate feature needs a centerline (should be able to use any datum axis) which you then need to right click and define it as the rotational axis. PTC expects that you just know that you need to add certain references without actually telling you that you need it. Inventor shows a preview of what the function actually does in a quick movie if you hover over it, plus it provides a link to learn further information and even provides an exercise showing explicitly how to use the function and what must be defined for the function to work. For instance if you hover over swept blend, the information contained says "create a swept blend". When I hover over some of the commands, it's as if the programmer just did not understand the point of what he/she was trying to create.
Their software updates automatically after a function is confirmed. I have never experienced this with Inventor. My anger continues to grow. Also, patterning complex features is pretty much a null exercise, since it takes Creo 20 minutes to regenerate the model. There is no documentation in the help file saying this needs to be done.
But just picture me wishing that Creo was tangible and that I could soak it in Ethanol and watch it burn a slow painful death. Please provide some insight as to why this program is any good at all. I know it's difficult to picture this. After applying an angle constraint just this morning, and the preview showing the correct orientation, after confirming, the model just sort of reversed the direction and tilted on another axis which was untouched.
There is no way that someone could just hop on this program and start using it. There are way too many idiosycrasies that 'just have to be known' through experience. Some of the simplest commands that I try to initiate do not work as intended.

The large CoCreate base is still not able to move to Creo Direct 3.0, because of the absence of basic direct modelling capabilities which they have in their current CoCreate software (now called Creo Elements Direct). It seems that the same thing is happening with Creo what happened with Wildfire. In fact Creo is still way behind of the competition (especially Siemens ST and also a bit on AutoDesk Fusion) in the area of direct modeling. That’s not a breakthrough, it just smoke and mirrors.
Don't defend and justify a cad package that takes 6 months to master, and causing productivity to drop. The result was frustrated existing users because they have to learn a new and incomplete UI and frustrated new users because at the surface (in demo’s) Wildfire looked fine, but when doing more complex stuff they were confronted with the ancient menu manager UI.Companies don't give a crap about how great any s/w package is, all they care about is what is the quickest and least costly to get a job done period with minimal overhead cost ( training) period. Back in the days Wildfire was launched, R&D dollars were used for the PLM Solution Windchill instead of finishing the CAD product in terms of the UI.
That what my employer want to hear. Next.It all comes done to dollars if I can get design done quicker in SWX/ INV or SE. I've used and master all 3 and Creo and the hardest by far.If I hire people for house repairs, car repairs, I want it done quick by highly skilled people, if ant of then them says I use all manual tools, it'll take longer to do, but the quality will be the best. Again I live in MA and two towns from PTC HQ (Chelmsford, MA) and every company I've ever worked, interviewed or have friends in all use SWX, SolidEdge ( All that sketch work was for nothing. And the helical sweep function? my goodness. Its a nightmare! I can not insert a centerline where I want to, only the ones in the model. In the assembly, WHY normal is the default constraint? I don't recall EVER used it! To move part, WHY do I have to hold button to drag it?In the modeling, if I start a feature, like extrude, and when I finish the sketch I figured I missclicked and what I wanted was a revolve. WHY there is no snap on it? The repeat region function. But there is some things that is too dumb.Like tables in the drawing. Just putting out my frustration. That I can praise, but not near enough to even consider it a good software. It does the work, no doubt, but it could be done a LOT easier. But yeah.
